Giggles Drama School

Introduction to Drama: This course gives a practical introduction to basic acting skills, vocal work, movement and script work. The course will help expand general communication skills, while challenging the students to express themselves in a creative and constructive manner.
Advanced Drama: Following on from the Introduction to Drama course, students can continue to learn more about drama through acting exercises and improvisation with a practical performance at the end of the course.
Creating a Character: By using acting techniques and improvisation, this course is focused on character development. Practical exercises are given to understand movement, how the body works, vocal work, creating different accents and objectives and what moves the character.
Working with Props & Costumes: This is a lively and funny course for both adults and children. Props and costumes are used to create characters and story lines for plays. It is a great way to develop creativity and self confidence.
Making a Play: This course is for more advanced students. The aim of this course is to take students through the process of making and writing a play. The first half of the course is focused on creating characters and working on ideas through improvisation. Once the idea and the characters are devised a script is written and rehearsals begin to perform the play for a live audience. The group are fully involved in the making of the play and develop a clear understanding of drama and the theatre.
Improvisation: Improvisation is brilliant in developing self confidence and creativity. Students learn to think and react on the spot, try out new ideas and explore and develop new techniques’ in acting. Students will explore the principle of character development and movement.
Vocal Work: students are taken through valuable exercise’s and technique’s in improving their vocal range and vocal projection. It is very important to have good projection for stage work in order for the audience to hear you clearly and enjoy your show.
Script Work: is where the students will look and explore a script focusing on; the play structure, plot and themes. Students will act out the parts and by practical guidance will develop a clear understanding in how to read, interpret and act out a script
Community Work: Drama is a form used in bringing people together. Through drama classes and workshops, relevant issues and themes can be explored to devise scripts. Drama can help develop confidence, working within a group and give people a chance to have their say.
